Lawyers for Lawyers is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Lawyers for Lawyers Award.
The Lawyers for Lawyers Award is a biannual prize established in 2011, which aims to honour lawyers who have made significant contributions to the protection of the rule of law and human rights in challenging environments. Through the Award, Lawyers for Lawyers generates public recognition for their work and enhances the protection of lawyers who are at risk.
The laureate will receive a special token as well as a donation of €10.000. In addition, laureates will have an ongoing collaboration with Lawyers for Lawyers for advocacy related to the Award and their work. On 15 May 2025, a festive ceremony will be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to celebrate the laureate.
Nomination process
The nomination process is open for anyone to submit a nomination of a lawyer or lawyers collective working on human rights and facing significant risk due to their work or operating in an environment that itself is characterised as high-risk. As such, priority may be given to those who are not normally acknowledged or recognised at the international level. A jury of four independent experts will select the 2025 laureate based on a selection of criteria.
