Mexico L4L comes to action for Alba Cruz

L4L spoke to Mexican lawyer Alba Cruz Ramos on May 3rd, 2010. Because of Alba’s work, many political prisoners in the Oaxaca region have been released. In a case started by Alba and her Comité 25 Noviembre colleagues, the Mexican Supreme Court ruled that the governor of Oaxaca and 8 others are to be held responsible for torturing political prisoners. However, no prosecution was started. At the same time, Alba and her family suffer constant and severe threats because of the work Alba is doing. The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights has ordered the Mexican government to provide for protective measures, but it has so far failed to do so.

In this context L4L has called for action in May 2010 (see the letters that were sent at the time here.)
