Mexico L4L, LRWC en Law Society dienen gezamenlijke UPR submission in

L4L heeft in samenwerking met Lawyers Rights Watch Canada en de Law Society of England and Wales een inzending gedaan voor de Universal Periodic Review van Mexico voor de VN Mensenrechtenraad die zal plaatsvinden in november 2013. In deze inzending wordt melding gemaakt van de problemen die bestaan bij de beveiliging van advocaten die vanwege hun werk worden bedreigd. Ook spreken de organisaties hun zorgen uit over het uitblijven van onderzoek nadat advocaten aangifte doen van bedreigingen tegen hen gericht. Zij besteden tot slot aandacht aan de ‘arraigo’, een vorm van voorarrest die veel wordt ingezet in de strijd tegen drugshandel, maar die met onvoldoende waarborgen is omkleed.
