Zimbabwe Alec Muchadehama vrijgesproken

Alec Muchadehama stond terecht wegens vermeende minachting van het Hof. In juni 2009 werd vervolging tegen hem ingesteld omdat hij zou hebben meegewerkt aan de ‘illegale vrijlating’ van journalist Andrison Manyere en twee leden van de Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), de politieke partij die in 1999 werd opgericht om oppositie te voeren tegen de regering van president Mugabe. Mensenrechtenorganisaties, waaronder L4L, vermoeden echter dat Muchadehama werd vervolgd vanwege zijn rechtmatige werkzaamheden als advocaat. Als advocaat stond hij een aantal MDC-leden en mensenrechtenactivisten bij die werden verdacht van een poging om het gezag van president Mugabe te ondermijnen.
