Lobby in Geneve voor UPR Iran en Kazakhstan

Op maandag 6 oktober en woensdag 8 oktober woonde Lawyers for Lawyers een ‘pre-sessie’ van de NGO ‘UPR-Info’ bij. Tijdens deze sessies kunnen NGO’s lobbyen bij landendelegaties in Genevé, om aanbevelingen uit eerder ingediende UPR-submissions over te nemen. Lawyers for Lawyers heeft submissions voor Kazachstan en Iran ingediend, waarin aanbevelingen werden gedaan om de situatie van advocaten in die landen te verbeteren en het hen mogelijk te maken hun beroep in vrijheid te kunnen uitoefenen.

Het bijwonen van de sessies leverde een zeer positief resultaat op; Lawyers for Lawyers had de mogelijkheid met veel geïnteresseerde delegaties te spreken, en was op die manier in staat veel informatie over advocaten in Kazachstan en Iran te delen.
